How to Apply for Life Insurance

Deciding on taking out life insurance is the first step in protecting yourself and your loved ones. When it comes to applying for cover there are three main steps to follow.

2. Read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)

Once you have decided on the cover you want, with the company that is the best fit for you, your consultant will provide you with the company’s PDS. The PDS will detail the features and benefits of the product, information on the company and other information that is vital to your decision.

3. Apply for life insurance

After reading the PDS, you will be ready to apply for cover. You can either fill in the application yourself online, or run through it with one of our application specialists. The length of time that the application takes will depend on your medical history and what you are applying for.

You will be asked a series of personal questions, including information on your medical and occupational history.

Your application is then assessed by an underwriter at the insurance company, who will decide whether to offer you cover or not.
