Double Trauma Insurance Benefit Payments

What is Trauma or Critical Illness Insurance?

Trauma insurance is a very widely purchased policy, that pays a lump sum benefit to you in the event that you suffer one of the listed critical illnesses/medical events that are covered under this policy.

Benefit options that are covered include things such as heart attack, coronary artery by-pass surgery, angioplasty, cardiomyopathy, stroke and cancer.

On average, the policies Lifebroker can quote for you, will cover between 30 and 50 different medical events including those listed above.

What Does a Double Trauma Insurance Benefit Mean?

A double trauma benefit is available if you have taken a trauma insurance policy in conjunction with a death or life insurance policy and have chosen to link the benefits together.

When you claim on a trauma benefit that is linked to a life insurance benefit, usually the life insurance sum insured is reduced by the amount your trauma claim payment is for. The double trauma option lets you reinstate your life cover (usually after a 14 month survival period) back to its original sum insured. Your premium is then waived for the reinstated amount of cover.
